The Artist

Monika Konieczna is a graduate from the Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw – faculty of painting (2005). Her work also encompasses graphics, performance, installations, and scenography. Her artistic research stresses the essence of creative freedom, and the demands placed upon us by free choice of form. The result has been a series of independent artistic projects.

In 2012 she was awarded a scholarship by the Polish Ministry of Culture to realise her exhibition ‘Stand Up and Turn’. This was a continuation of her research into rituals and taboos. A vital aspect of this involved using palimpsest structure which enabled her to explore the multilayer processes of human memory. By referring to the personal side of life, she touches that which is common to us all.

In her exploration of the field of mime dance, she has been involved in a series of international theatre festivals in the following countries: Slovakia, Russia, Serbia, Croatia, Germany, Italy, France and Israel.
